Milkies milk trays and milk saver BONUS: 10% off all milkies products!!!!

I am so EXCITED about this post! I get to talk to you guys about something I am passionate about.....breastfeeding! There are a ton of great products that will help you with success and I'm going to tell you about my 2 can't do it without favorites. The Milkies Milk Saver and the Milkies Milk Trays.
The Milk Saver:
I used this from the start with Camden. It makes collecting breast milk so easy and effortless. While you are feeding your let down reflex happens on both breasts so rather than wasting that milk from the non nursing side, the milk saver collects it and you can store it for later. I save on average 16 oz. a day using this. It's so comfortable and easy to use! It comes with a carrying case so it's portable and easy to throw into the diaper bag for when you do nurse while you're out and about and it's totally discreet. Nobody will even know you have it on!
Just slip the milk saver into your bra cup, (sorry for the weird boob shot) and make sure the nipple is through the opening in the back. Now all you need to do is nurse your baby as you normally would.
This is what I collected from nursing Donavan for about 20 minutes.
As you can see, it really adds up. This is what I collected from both sides after 1 nursing session!

Milk Trays:
These are a recent purchase for me. I bought these because I was tired of buying those pricey milk storage bags. I LOVE these. First of all they are reusable. Just hand wash them with mild soap and you're good to go. Secondly, each bottle is so easy for dad or other caregivers to make a bottle with the perfect amount and you don't have to worry about wasting or spilling. I use the 8oz Medela bottles when we thaw breast milk out and we can fit about 5 milk sticks in a bottle.
You get 2 trays per package and each tray holds 8 sticks. Each milk stick is equal to 1 oz. See how great this is?

Next you take your expressed milk (or the milk you collected from the milk saver) and pour it into the trays up to the fill line.

I usually have to get to eye level to see where the fill line is because as you can see, it is a little hard to spot at first. You don't want to over fill them because like anything else that gets frozen, the breast milk expands.

Now that your trays are filled just put the lids on and pop them in the freezer. This I learned the hard way, but you want to carefully and slowly carry only 1 tray at a time. It will spill otherwise. Trust me, it's a mess and any lactating mother knows how sad it is to lose all that precious "liquid gold".

They have these awesome groves in the top that
make stacking in the freezer easier and space saving.

Now fast forward 4-6 hours. Take your milk trays out of the freezer and flex the trays like you would a normal ice cube tray. It
will take a little bit more for the milk sticks to come out because frozen breast milk is softer than ice.

Empty the milk sticks on the lid or counter. I use the lid because it just feels cleaner to me.

Now you're set. Just label and date a freezer bag and put your milk sticks (with clean hands of course) in the bags and stick it in the freezer and your set. A quart sized freezer bag holds about 25 oz of milk.
